In it you'll learn about the different breeds of dairy, meat, and fiber-producing animals; housing, disease and predator control; pasture management; and feeds and feeding. The class will also address the business-related side of farming, examining marketing, basic management, record-keeping, and legislative issues.

This 4-week class on poultry production for the small farming operation is a continuation of Homesteading 101: A Primer for Living off the Land. In it you¿ll learn about the different breeds, varieties, and classes of poultry, plus housing and feeding, disease and predator control, and egg production and related practices. The course will cover a wide variety of fowl, from chickens and ducks to geese, peafowls, guineas, quail, pigeons, and doves.

Students will be introduced to many ways to make your home more efficient such as installing insulation, sealing gaps and cracks, stopping drafts, and replacing door and window seals. Instruction will be given on how shrubbery, trees and home site orientation can reduce heating and cooling bills, and what products are available for use and how to properly use them.

Students will be introduced to interior and exterior home painting, prepping walls and ceilings to be painted, repair small holes, stains and scratches, properly select paint, and estimate how much you will need.
