Since the greatest increase in farms today are those that are 10 acres or smaller, this seminar is geared to anyone who would like to know more about the federal agency, Farm Service Agency, and how it helps those who would like to get started in farming. Financing agriculture after the business is once established is also covered by discussing the role of banks and FSA, plus all the necessary paperwork needed to maintain the business. The role of the business plan is discussed as an essential element in establishing the feasibility of the business.

Tillage tools for different soils along with different crop rotations will be discussed as to increasing yields. The importance of drainage will be highlighted and how to improve yields through understanding how your drainage works. It takes a historical perspective discussing the relationship between farmland values, commodity prices, and the global economy. Several current case studies are analyzed. For young men and women, the Youth Manufacturing Camp offers a unique opportunity to explore and discover high-wage careers in manufacturing. The program lets high school students and recent graduates ¿try on¿ a career through hands-on projects and learning experiences on the shop floor and college classroom. Participants will tour modern manufacturing facilities in their region, among other fun activities, to help them make career decisions. In addition, the camp participants will ¿Earn While You Learn¿. Stipends of up to $300.00 can be earned for just for participating in the camp. Manufacturing occupations include skilled jobs in machining, metal and plastic processing, computerized machine operations and programming, tool and die making, tool grinding, welding, automatic assembly, automation applications and many others.
