The class is divided evenly between classroom instruction and hands-on lab experience. The classroom instruction focuses on basic electricity and troubleshooting for air conditioners, heat pumps and furnaces. Other topics included in the course are the concepts of refrigeration, refrigerant recovery, how to properly charge a system, and other information necessary for the federally required EPA 608 certification. Instruction is also provided for basic maintenance with HVAC equipment and soldering copper pipe and fittings.
