This course will provide students with a thorough understanding of gas tungsten arc welding, arc characteristics and safety procedures and hazards. Students will obtain the skills necessary to perform quality gas tungsten arc welds on 22 thru 11 gauge mild steel. Weld characteristics of mild steel and information on pulsed current GTAW will be included. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to use the gas tungsten arc welding process in the flat position to produce quality square groove and fillet welds on carbon steel. Weld quality will be determined using the ASME Section IX Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. Industry or production specific requests can be accommodated to fully integrate the course outcomes to meet your strategic needs. Additional course objectives for various welding conditions are available.
