Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing is a symbolic language used on engineering drawings and computer generated three-dimensional solid models (CAD) for explicitly describing nominal geometry and its allowable variation. This defines the allowable variation in form and possibly size of individual features and defines the allowable variation between features.

Tolerance stacks are an important tool for designers, engineers, manufacturing, quality, and shop personnel. Tolerance stacks are used to evaluate the variable features and dimensions of a single part or an assembly of parts. The GD&T Stacks Analysis class is designed to educate students on performing tolerance stacks and reallocation analysis on linear and axial assemblies.

This course will provide the student with a thorough understanding of hazards and safety procedures used in gas metal arc welding; metal transfer, shielding gases and adjustment of equipment. Students will be able to produce quality gas metal arc welds in the horizontal position on mild steel from 3/16 inch sheet to 1 inch plate, single and multiple pass using short circuit and spray transfers. Students will be able to produce quality multiple pass, groove welds and fillet welds on carbon steel plate in the horizontal position. Students will also learn to trouble shoot problems, apply corrective measures and perform quality checks on the welds. AWS techniques for visual inspection and mechanical testing will be used to determine quality of welds. Industry or production specific requests can be accommodated to fully integrate the course outcomes to meet your strategic needs. Additional course objectives for various welding conditions are available.
