MFIT AIR3: Preserving Trees During Construction Activities
0.00 Credits
Ivy Tech Community College
Numerous studies have shown that having healthy, mature trees on a residential or commercial property makes good business sense. Properties sell for higher prices if they contain shade trees; customers are more likely to do business in commercial districts that are lined with ornamental and shade trees. People looking to build a home often seek out treed lots, and are willing to pay extra to keep those trees alive. This program will introduce the participants to basic tree biology, and how standard construction activities can harm and even kill trees. The participants will learn to decide which trees are worth saving, and how to protect these trees during construction. The program will also cover proper tree planting procedures.
