    With the close supervision of a subject-matter expert, students develop an individualized plan of study on a topic within higher education for each course within the Guided Study sequence (HEL 8501, 8502, 8503, 8504, and 8505).     This course involves extensive work by the student with advisement from a faculty member. A pre-arranged plan of the project must be completed and be reviewed and approved by the student's advisor and one other committee member. This work may involve extensive on-going research/writing by the student on a research project or in topic inquiry with advising from one or more faculty members. The student will evaluate the impact of the project and share the results with colleagues.

    This course involves extensive work by the student with advisement from a faculty member. A pre-arranged plan of the project must be completed and be reviewed and approved by the student's advisor and one other committee member. This work may involve extensive on-going research/writing by the student on a research project or in topic inquiry with advising from one or more faculty members. The student will evaluate the impact of the project and share the results with colleagues. With approval from the program chair, students may take HEL 9000 and HEL 9001 simultaneously.

    This course is a study of the major cultural, economic, military, political, religious and social events from Antiquity to the Scientific Revolution. The emphasis for this world history course is centered on Western Europe and its contacts and inter-relationships with the rest of the world including, but not limited to, the peoples of Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Americas.

    This course studies the artistic trends and developing technologies that have influenced creative work throughout Europe and America. This course focuses on the relationship between design and art, as well as the artist's role and influence on Western Culture and Society.

    This course will focus on the interactions between people within their regional physical and cultural environments and their interactions with other groups and societies around the world. Students will develop the ability to read maps, learn location and the physical and cultural characteristics of major world regions, and examine the political and economic interactions within and among world societies in the context of geographic location, economic and social well-being, mechanisms of commerce, and the environment. To meet the objectives of this course, a thematic approach to understanding cultural and environmental interaction will entail examining world societies through the lenses of human and physical geography utilizing the 5 Themes of Geography: Location, Movement, Region, Place, and Human-Environment Interaction.
