This course further develops the student's knowledge, skills and abilities in machining building on the fundamental principles covered in Machine Tools I. Students manufacture projects that require precision layout, set-up, machining and inspection. These projects require students to perform various operations on horizontal milling machines, vertical milling machines, band saws, engine lathes and surface grinders. Prerequisite: IT 121.

This course is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software, specifically Mastercam. Students will learn to create, modify, manipulate and import geometry. Manufacturing/machining processes will be applied to that geometry along with tools, speeds and feeds for tool path simulation and verification. Students will ultimately be able to create a computer aided design (CAD) drawing, simulate the machining of a three dimensional model and generate CNC code to machine an actual part. Prerequisite: IT 102 or IT 103 or permission of the instructor.
