    There is more to heirloom framing than you may imagine! In order to preserve family mementos, special photos and other items either in a shadow box or a frame, you need to know how to mount the items so that they will last a lifetime. THe instructor has many years of experience and owns, Focal Point, a framing shop in Watertown. This workshop will take you step by step through the process. Participants are invited to bring special items and ideas for discussion. How to choose an appropriate frame to best fit the era of the item will also be a part of this discussion.

    Our own American desserts like Apple pie and Boston cream pie bring to mind the comforts of desserts in the "good old USA". We'll tour the country's recipes from New York to California and come up with some favorites. Perhaps a picnic-style table-setting would be befitting to taste the results.     Laurie Smith is certified in S.O.L.O Wilderness First Aid and by the Appalachia Mountain Club in Outdoor Leadership. She has safely lead hundreds of people through the NYS trail system and navigated to the top of several NYS high peaks. She will engage you with information as you climb Indian Head and Fish Hawk cliffs, located within the Adirondack Mountain Reserve. The trailhead is located at the Ausable Club in Keene Valley. This 9- 10 mile moderate hike is perfect for hikers of all levels. Participants will need to fill-out a health questionnaire prior to joining this workshop. Transportation provided. Please pack a lunch and reserve money for dinner. Laurie will provide you with a list of items to bring the day of the hike.

    This course will prepare you to take the examination for a nationally recognized Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) Certification provided through the National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF) Board for Certification. The course bridges the gap between exercise science related coursework and the practical application skills required for personal training. Learn how to properly screen and evaluate clients for safe participation in an exercise program; design and implement exercise prescriptions for multiple populations for successful goal attainment; proficiently supervise clients; and be prepared to sit for a NCSF- CPT Exam. The registration fee includes the textbook, study guide, reference guide, CD-ROM and DVD, cost of the exam, certificate of completion and a 1-year membership to NCSF.

    Keep Paper Clutter from Overtaking Your Home Most people cite paper newspapers, magazines, recipes, books, mail as one of their chief problems in keeping clutter under control in their homes. Unlike most classes dealing with paper clutter that only offer elaborate filing systems that we usually abandon quickly, this class will focus on a different way of looking at paper. This innovative class, taught by a reformed clutter bug will help you keep paper from entering your house in the first place, how to live happily without all that information you SAVED and how to let go of books, magazines and paper you don¿t really need.     True Sustainability If you believe that if you buy a hybrid car, install compact fluorescents in your home and make a $500 donation to the Sierra Club that you are helping to solve world problems, then this workshop isn't for you. True sustainability must involve deliberate changes in western society's lifestyle. These changes can be forced upon you or embraced by you. The choice is yours, but the changes due to things like global warming, over population and resource depletion will happen. This workshop will discuss what events will be affecting you life in the near future and how you could develop strategies that are easy and fun to do, that will allow you to cope with them. Reducing your dependency on electricity, saving money on food, fuel, transportation and entertainment will be discussed.
