COM 5010: Internship in Business And Public Communication

A minimum of 10 hours weekly, plus periodic conferences with internship coordinator; 3 credits Students work in an organization appropriate to the major and under the supervision of both professional mentors and a faculty internship coordinator. Students contribute to online discussions, attend scheduled meetings, and submit a term report. Prerequisite: Departmental permission. Open to corporate communication majors only. Students conduct a search and arrange interviews during the semester prior to requesting permission to enroll in the internship course. Prior to accepting a specific internship, students submit a brief proposal to the internship coordinator requesting approval and permission to register for the course. Students' capabilities and organizational interests will be considered in approving appropriate internship sites.
