A studio course in the theory and technique of three-dimensional (3-D) modeling utilizing appropriate software. Topics include the creation and modification of 3-D geometric shapes; a variety of rendering techniques; and use of camera light sources, texture, and surface mapping. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

Visual design elements as they relate to new media. Emphasizes aesthetics and visual problem solving such as typographic issues, color management, hierarchy of information, image optimization, and effective layout. This course is cross-listed as ARTC 1459. The student may register for either ARTC 1359 or ARTC 1459, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

Instruction in creation of web pages, graphics and images for use on the internet. Focus is on creating well designed web pages and maintaining continuity throughout web sites through use of color, graphics and placement and use of embedded elements. Overall visual communication of concept is emphasized. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
