The purpose of this course is to help pre-service teachers to identify sound educational practices; to make systematic logical and humane instructional decisions; to develop skills in the use of instructional strategies; and finally to give students an opportunity to put theory into practice, demonstrating the generic teaching competencies correlated to the Florida Department of Education's Educational Standards Commission Twelve Accomplished Practices and selected ESOL standards. This course also prepares pre-service teachers to teach those students who are gifted, academically challenged, experiencing language acquisitions and/or economically deprived socially and culturally.

The purpose of this course is to acquaint pre-service teachers with the Florida Law and the six (6) domains identified by the state of Florida as to what the skills are that comprise a successful classroom teacher. Students will acquire sufficient knowledge that will enable them to identify effective teaching behaviors. Included here will be critical theoretical frameworks, effective curricular/school safety programs, key classroom management techniques, professional ethics and best practices as related to the domains listed in the Florida Performance Measurement System. Students will become familiar with the legal cases that shape Florida laws and the most effective methods for instructing and guiding all students, including those that are physically, mentally, economically, socially, emotionally, culturally and linguistically challenged.
