Prereq: CH E 307 & BIOS 170 OR PBIO 114. Study of processes in chemical engineering that depend on biological systems. Overview of biological basics, enzyme kinetics, major metabolic pathways, cell growth characteristics, essentials of recombinant DNA technology, bioreactor design and control, and an introduction of purification methods. 3 lec. May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
