This course explores the various social and emotional needs of students who are gifted. The course focuses not only on the perceived deficits of these students, but on their social and emotional strengths as well. In addition, a variety of types of gifted students and their particular needs are discussed. Those include students who are underachievers, gifted students with disabilities, the twice exceptional, gifted boys, gifted girls, young gifted children, gifted minority students, highly creative students, and the highly gifted. The issue of parenting gifted students is also addressed. 3 hours lecture.
