Using the technique of Replicate-Generate From- Generate, this course combines the student's knowledge of traditional styles, form, and analysis in order to repli- cate music in many styles. The student will then begin to combine his or her own musical ideas into these compositions. The second half of the semester will be devoted to the original compositions of the student while employing the disciplines previously studied. Classical as well as contemporary motifs will be explored in this lecture-discussion- workshop course. Prerequisites: Music 218, 219, 221, and 222. Course Type(s): None
