Corequisites: ECED 23322 Prerequisites: ECED 23320 and READ 30320 This course will start from the perspective of the pre-service early childhood teacher educator and explore their experiences learning science and mathematics. Students will reflect on their own prior experiences with math and science and discover the impact of those experiences on their feelings of efficacy. Students will experience teaching strategies and processes that they are expected to master and use in teaching math and science to young children. Within an integrated framework, students will develop the conceptual knowledge base that they need in order to design a coherent science and mathematics program with developmentally appropriate activities and expectations. This course involves field trip visits.

Corequisites: ECED 23447 and SECD 03350 Prerequisites: ECED 23430 and ECED 23431 The clinical practice experience is a supervised, full-time activity conducted in an early childhood classroom. In this course, teacher candidates must demonstrate abilities related to planning and implementing deveopmentally appropriate practice for all children, including children with special needs. They also need to show abilities to integrate activities/lessons for balanced development, write lesson plans, adopt multiple instructional strategies, assess learners' performance with different types of assessment tools, document the results of assessments, build safe and positive learning environment, manage all aspects of classroom activities, guide students behaviors, and work collaoratively with families, colleagues, and community of children with and without special needs. This is a full tiem field based course and should be taken senior year.

For these, teacher candidates have opportunities to reflect on their understanding of typical and atypical children's developmental characteristics and needs, to communicate and collaborate with family and community, to plan effective curricula for all children, to assess and document children's performance and progress, and to understand professional development of teachers in inclusive settings. Candidates are also expected to establish their philosophy of teaching in an inclusive setting; to discuss clinical practice issues and current issues of inclusive early childhood education; and to assemble thier professional portfolio.
