A course in Kentucky History must deal with a multitude of issues: Settlement of Kentucky and frontier life, achievement of statehood, economic, political, social, religious, and cultural development of Kentucky, its place in United States history as a border state; its modern development and role in U.S. history. Furthermore, such a course must look at the role of Native Americans, women, and the presence of slavery, and noted Kentucky figures I U.S. history. Other topics that would be explored would be significant court cases that originated in Kentucky and Kentucky's roles in national wars.
