Air distribution systems, sheet metal work, and troubleshooting both the electrical and refrigeration portions of the system are covered.

Gas line sizing, derating, orifice sizing, humidifiers, and furnace venting systems are covered.

Prerequisites: Must have completed HVAC 101, HVAC 101L, HVAC 102, HVAC 102L, and HVAC 105 with a “C” or better This course involves study of both active and passive solar heating systems. Laboratory work emphasis is on electrical schematic interpretation and advanced troubleshooting on a variety of heating and cooling systems.

(2 Credits) Prerequisites: Must have completed HVAC 101, HVAC 101L, HVAC 102, HVAC 102L, and HVAC 105 with a "C" or better Th is course prepares students for employment in a maintenance career area. A study of the installation and adjustment of diff erent types of belt drives, bearings, and couplings. Students learn the basics of a chiller system and procedures for start up of hot water and steam heating systems, chilled water systems, and forced air distribution systems.

They learn sheet metal duct sizing and construction. This course covers calculation of the heating and cooling load of a building.

Students will be required to take the certifi cation exam upon completion of this course.
