A comprehensive modular course that covers the pathophysiology, assessment, and management of patients who experience a variety of conditions, including traumatic injuries, gynecological, obstetric, neonatal, endocrine, immunologic, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, hematological, and infectious-disease related emergencies. Students will apply these concepts and psychomotor skills in simulation lab scenarios. Prerequisite: EMT 102

2.00 Credits
This comprehensive modular course provides students the opportunity to integrate theory and psychomotor skills from previous courses, and apply them in complex simulation activities. In order to complete the course, students must meet all of the skill and simulation competencies required by the program. Students must also pass the Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support courses, and Prehospital Trauma Life Support certification courses, or equivalent courses approved by the Delaware Office of Emergency Medical Services. This course also covers EMS response to special situations and interaction with firefighters and law enforcement. Topics include vehicle rescue, active threats, mass casualty situations, and air-medical operations. Prerequisites: EMT 103 and EMT 110

A supervised clinical experience is provided in pertinent clinical and prehospital settings correlating with the knowledge skills and techniques presented in previous coursework. Emphasis is placed on advanced patient assessment, airway management, pharmacologic skills, and team leader development. Prerequisite: EMT 102

A supervised clinical experience is provided in a variety of healthcare settings where students apply knowledge, skills, and techniques presented in previous coursework as a team member and team leader of patients across all age groups. This course includes Field Experience on a paramedic unit with a field training officer as well as specialty rotations. Prerequisites: EMT 103 and EMT 110

This course provides a clinical experience in the prehospital setting under the supervision of a field training officer aboard a paramedic unit. Students will function in the role of the team leader to manage trauma and medical patients across all age groups. Pre-Requisites: EMT 104 and EMT 120

Students may complete technical electives for which they have prior approval of the department chairperson.

5.00 Credits
An introductory course that prepares the student for the role of paramedic. The topics covered include an overview of the emergency medical services (EMS) system, roles and responsibilities of the paramedic, wellbeing of the paramedic, ambulance operations and national and local issues which impact EMS. In addition, this course provides the student with the theory and skills necessary to provide basic care in the prehospital environment. This course is part of the College's competitive admissions programs and is therefore excluded from the tuition free Senior Citizen Tuition Policy. The topics covered include patient history, techniques of physical examination, patient assessment, clinical decision making, communications and documentation of findings. This comprehensive course provides students with theory and skills related to the pathology, assessment, and management of adult patients with various medical conditions. Topics include pharmacology and diseases involving the following systems: respiratory, neurologic, endocrine, immune, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary. Diseases of those systems are examined to learn how to identify them and manage a patient who has one. This course is part of the College's competitive admissions programs and is therefore excluded from the tuition free Senior Citizen Tuition Policy. A comprehensive course focusing on advance life support (ALS) skills associated with the current and anticipated paramedic scope of practice. Emphasis is placed on basic and advanced airway management, non-invasive monitoring, and electrical therapies.
