PSY 345: Psychological Perspectives of Mental and Physiological Well-Being
3.00 Credits

Medical research and spiritual insight are combined to help the student examine health-related behaviors and attitudes, identify destructive emotions that affect us physically, and to develop biblical strategies for coping with problems of life in a healthy way while making healthful behavioral changes informed by research. Health behaviors, attitudes, and well-being can also be influenced by gender, age, personality and ethnic and cultural background. This course will promote an understanding of each of these factors and the challenges faced by these groups. A focus of the course will be an effort to identify biases through which we interpret human behavior by considering major theories of interpreting health- related behavior while emphasizing research that supports or contradicts each perspective. Students will work to develop skills for evaluating health views. Three hours.
