This course is designed to give the student an introduction to middle school theory and practice. Specific characteristics of the middle school are studied with application where appropriate. Topics include middle school philosophy, the role of the students, teachers, and parents, the curriculum, middle school organization, and the structure for activities. Much of the course is dedicated to describing academic effectiveness and developmentally appropriate strategies. Prerequisites: EDU110, EDU235. Three hours.
