In this advanced Web design class, students refine their Web design skills and learn to use the Web to market themselves. Projects include creating portfolio Web pages to showcase their work and skills. Students explore current Web technologies used to add interactivity, sound or animations. ( Prerequisite: ART 295)

This course introduces students to polygonal modeling in Maya, the most advanced 3-D modeling, animation and special effects program in one integrated solution. Students will build upon the knowledge gained in ART 215 to create more advanced forms that can be used in games or subdivided and used in feature film animations.

This course introduces students to advanced animation techniques in Maya. Students will build upon the knowledge gained in ART 335 to take the forms that they have built to the next level, integrating them in environments filled with fire, water, smoke, and light. They will explore Maya Fluid Effects, Cloth, Hair, Fur and Maya Live to create an animated short. ( Prerequisite: ART 335)

This course is designed to provide students with hands-on training in video and sound production. Students experiment with single and multi-camera orientations, lighting concepts for indoor and outdoor environments, sound effects, and sound techniques. Students take responsibility for planning a project which includes: location, scheduling, shooting, equipment, actors, props, etc. Students use the computer to add special effects, credits, captions, etc.

Students are introduced to the writing process for film/video production. Emphasis is placed on development of a concept/story, cinematic representation of theme, plot, and character, and standard screenwriting format. Students will also develop the basics of planning and mastering the visual storytelling/pre-production process. Students will create scripts and produce storyboards for a short video production.

Students learn and explore basic editing techniques used in the video production industry, including logging footage, pacing, rhythm, use of reaction shots, point-of-view and cutaways, cross-cutting, cotton action, and the creation of multi-shot and multi-camera montage sequences. Students learn basic terminology and work with digital editing software to produce short video programs. ( Prerequisite: ART 338 or Dean approval)

This advanced class simulates the atmosphere and functions of a working design studio. Students are engaged in individual and group design projects that focus on conceptualizing, planning, and creating design solutions appropriate to the needs of packaging, environmental signage, and of business and industry. ( Prerequisite: ART 291)

This class explores lighting equipment, lighting design, and techniques for studio and on-location video lighting. Topics include the properties and control of light, lighting instruments and lamps, correcting and filtering light and special lighting effects. Students create short video works in which lighting is used to create specified moods.

Students serve an internship to practically apply their skills in real-world employment situations. All internships are project-oriented and directly related to their area of study. Each internship is served under the sponsorship of a faculty advisor, and students are required to document the results of their experience. ( Prerequisite: Junior status)
