  • 3.00 Credits

This course in technical drawing covers necessary architectural drawings to comply with basic interior construction code requirements, drawings necessary to communicate millwork design intent, and additional drawings that utilize standard construction means & methods. Industry standard dimensioning, notes and drawing organization are also emphasized in this Computer Automated Drafting & Design-based course. ( Prerequisite IND 121 or TEC 102)
  • 4.00 Credits

Students will be introduced to perspective drawing techniques using relative proportion and vanishing points and will be exposed to color application over interior perspective drawings to accurately convey the design concept. These techniques will be used for the development of three-dimensional concept sketches to convey initial design ideas. Students will reproduce a variety of architectural materials, light and shadow, reflection, etc. in renderings to accurately communicate design intent and will draw and develop details for final presentation drawings through the use of manual drawing techniques over computer generated wire-frame drawings of interior spaces.
  • 4.00 Credits

This intermediate level CAD course is designed to integrate students' interior design projects with construction and presentation documentation. Students will develop construction plans, reflected ceiling plans, telephone, electrical and data plans, and furniture and finish plans using paper space and viewports in AutoCAD to manage multiple drawing sets. This course builds on drafting and construction topics previously introduced in IND 111, IND 121 and IND 131 and helps students develop speed and efficiency using AutoCAD. (Prerequisite IND 131)
  • 4.00 Credits

Problem solving skills and an understanding of the principles of design will be developed through the creation of three-dimensional objects. Students will experiment with three-dimensional form and space in the process of manually building models using a variety of materials and construction methods. Students will then apply model making skills to a three-dimensional study model of their interior design project experience how the analysis of a study model can help identify and resolve planning problems as well as convey the design concept. Both aesthetics and craftsmanship will be stressed.
  • 4.00 Credits

Three-dimensional Computer Automated Drafting & Design skills previously developed in IND 121 will be honed and expanded in this advanced Computer Automated Drafting & Design course. Emphasis is placed on modeling tools to develop complete interior spaces with complex details. Students will use solid editing commands, surface creation commands, and the manipulation of the UCS to complete their designs. Computer Automated Drafting & Design rendering commands including the assignment of color and finish materials and the application of lighting are used to produce images of final designs for presentation purposes. ( Prerequisite IND 241)
  • 4.00 Credits

Students will be exposed to contemporary Professional Practices for Interior Designers. The major topics covered will include marketing/selling, business planning, request for proposal (RFP) response, contracts, compensation and project management. The projects include design of a marketing orientated website, development of a strategic business plan including the financial and legal descriptions for a small firm, preparing a project proposal in response to an RFP (Request for Proposal) and outlining a project budget.
  • 4.00 Credits

Students will be exposed to residential programming, planning, and three-dimensional design concept development within the constraints of an existing building. Students will research the assigned building, its architect, and its architectural style to help direct the design concept development. The project includes preparation and analysis of alternate plans, development of color distribution studies, design and detailing of custom built-in units, and the selection of appropriate furniture and architectural finish materials to support the design concept. Students will prepare comprehensive visual presentation materials including rendered perspective drawings and will give formal verbal presentations explaining planning, design development, and furniture and finish selection rationales. ( Prerequisite IND 124 or IND 135, IND 131 or TEC 103, IND 132 or TEC 110 and IND 123)
  • 3.00 Credits

Students examine various materials and furnishings used in commercial and residential interiors via lectures, discussions, and field trips to manufacturers, showrooms, and design firms. This class focuses on how to identify, specify and communicate the appropriate selection of these materials and furnishing to the client, general contractor, architects, and interior designers. ( Prerequisite: IND 130)
  • 4.00 Credits

Students will be exposed to office programming, demising plans, alternate planning concepts, code compliance, accessibility standards, way-finding, and three-dimensional design concept development for a specific tenant within the constraints of an existing multi-tenant building. Three-dimensional concepts for the office environment will be developed with an emphasis on hierarchy, massing, partition height development, and appropriate utilization of the student's architectural material. Students will prepare comprehensive visual presentation materials including rendered perspective drawings and will give formal verbal presentations that will explain planning, design and rationale.
  • 4.00 Credits

This course introduces lighting as an integral part of design, the consideration of light sources, selection of fixtures, and calculations necessary to achieve lighting designs. A ? base set? of construction drawings, specifications, legends and details necessary to complete an interior project of produced for portfolio. Students are taught using Computer Automated Drafting & Design as a design and drawing production tool.
