This course develops a greater understanding of tools and approaches to develop advanced skills in 3-D modeling and to expand students' conceptual insights in using those skills for creative expression. Students have an opportunity to undertake a project while working either off-campus or at the college on special projects related to their course of study. Working within the design field on independent projects provides valuable work experience and on-the-job training. Internship opportunities focus on the independent development of professional projects and intensive critique sessions. The students are required to have regular meetings with their clients and advisors during the project phases to learn the professional design process. ( Prerequisite: Junior status)

This class focuses on how to successfully obtain a position in the design field or become an entrepreneur. Students research and develop an industry profile to better market themselves within the design field. The class content balances theory and practical experience. Topics include: small business management, contracts and contract law, estimation and billing practices, taxation, basic accounting principles, payroll, and employment management. ( Prerequisite: Senior status)

Through lectures, demonstrations, research, and studio work, this course explores the business, legal, and ethical aspects of the graphic design profession. Topics include designer/client relationships, pricing estimates, contract documents, printing practices, and production practices. ( Prerequisite: ART 291)

Students explore advanced principles of visual communications theory, including applications of typographic design, logo design, and the creation of symbolic visual systems. ( Prerequisite: ART 203, ART 420, Senior status)

This class provides an overview of the role of 2-D motion graphic images in the broadcast industry and the web. Concept, research, design and pre-production routines for motion graphics projects are covered, focusing on animating, typography, graphic objects and still images. Students are introduced to broadcast production needs, industry equipment, and computer graphics and animation software. Students create animation sequences for a variety of video production needs (informational/educational training, news, commercials and titling).

This project-based course involves the testing, analyzing and revising of professional interactive projects. Students refine their design projects from Media Arts III, exploring aspects of marketing and packaging their projects.
