Examines pharmacology with concentration on prescriptions, drug nomenclature, classification of drugs patient education, medication preparation and administration. Lecture: 2 credits (30 contact hours); Lab: 1 credit (45 contact hours). Prerequisite: (MAI 170 and (AHS 109 or BIO 135) and (AHS 115 or AHS 120 or CLA 131 or OST 103) with a grade of C or better) or Consent of Medical Assisting Program Coordinator/Director.

Allows the student to apply knowledge, perform administrative and clinical procedures, and develop professional attitudes for interacting with other professionals and consumers in the health care field by means of externship assignments (unpaid). Clinical: 2-3 credits (120 -180 contact hours). Prerequisite: MAI 281 and Consent of Medical Assisting Program Coordinator/Director.

Various medical assisting topics, issues and trends will be addressed. Topics may vary from semester to semester at the discretion of the instructors; course may be repeated with different topics to a maximum of six credit hours. Lecture: varies; Laboratory: varies. This course offers repeated hands-on experience in refrigeration safety, refrigerant recovery, and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting with minimal supervision. Prerequisite: MAR 100, MAR 101

The materials and lectures in this course will provide an understanding of safety, fundamentals, theory terminology, schematic reading and troubleshooting techniques for gas and electric dryers. Prerequisite: EET 128, EET 129

This course offers repeated hands-on experiences in dryer safety, installation procedures, hand tools and meter usage, switches, thermostats, belts, blowers, heating elements, gas valves and controls, venting bearings, diagnosing mechanical and electrical malfunctions, door switches, motors and centrifugal switches schematic reading and troubleshooting techniques. Prerequisite/Corequisite: MAR 110

This course offers limited, supervised hands-on experiences in automatic washer safety, installation procedures, hand tool and specialty tools, meter usage, bearings, pumps, seals, water supply lines and valves, clutches, transmissions, suspensions, motors and centrifugal switches, timers, belts, control switches, relays, diagnosing mechanical and electrical malfunctions, schematic reading and troubleshooting techniques. Prerequisite: EET 128, EET 129 Corequisite: MAR 120
