Introduces the students to the basic concepts of international trade, international finance and economic development through the exploration of the interrelationship of national economies. This course will cover topics such as introduction to theory of international trade; analysis of the economic effects of trade policies; balance of payments, foreign exchange markets and exchange rate systems; international monetary systems and regional integration. In addition, students will learn about the major issues in a global world related to economic development and the environment.

Introduces education majors to the field of teaching, focusing on the diverse learning needs of studetns. Addresses professional issues such as current trends, laws, court decisions that influence education in LA and the United States. Assists pre-service teachers in identifying personal beliefs dispositions, and experiences related to teaching. Examines major theories of child development and psychology, including cognitive and social/emotional stage theories. Teaches skills to integrate technology into the classroom using essential office software and e-mail; web-based resources; and educational software for research, demonstration, planning lessons, creating presentations, and creating an electronic teaching portgolio. Combines lectures, reviews of literature, case studies, group learning experiences, and site-based expereinces within schools.

The course focuses on the definition of the job of the public information officer (PIO) and assists participants with building the skills needed for this position such as oral and written communication, understanding and working with media, and the basic tools and techniques PIOs need to perform their job.

Lecture 3, Lab 0, Credit 3 Provides students with the skills necessary to lead and influence others in the demanding setting of emergency management by increasing their range of skills in a variety of interpersonal areas: conflict management, use of power group dynamics, leadership, and influence. Students are taught to clearly identify problems and their root causes so as to be able to determine and use the appropriate decision-making style. Using a suggested process of problem solving, participants will be able to apply creative solutions to both emergency and non-emergency situations in emergency management situations. Prerequisites: EMGT 150, EMGT 152, EMGT 170, EMGT 180, EMGT 182, EMGT 184, EMGT 210, EMGT 220 or permission of instructor.
