This course introduces students to the music and cultures of the world's peoples. Students will study, hear, and research music from a wide variety of geographical areas of the world. 3 hours lecture.

A course designed for prospective, pre-service, or certified elementary teachers, or for those classroom teachers seeking recertification. Students acquire knowledge about materials, instruction, and methods pertaining to the integration of music in the elementary classroom. Hands-on demonstration and class participation are emphasized. 3 hours lecture.

A historical survey of the history and literature of Western Music: Ancient Greece through the Baroque period (c.1750). The course examines the cultural context in which the music of a period was created, how music influenced that culture (or how culture influenced the music), and biographical studies of important musicians. May be taken out of sequence (See Music History Survey II). 3 hours lecture.

Individual lessons in advanced woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument, with a concentration on breath control, range, resonance, the study of appropriate literature for the student's instrument and ability. For those students with previous training in woodwind, brass, or percussion. One credit will equal one (1) one-half hour lesson per week, two credits equal one (1)hour lesson per week. Students are required to practice two hours per week, per credit outside of instructional time. Prerequisite: MUSC 1071 with a grade of "C" or better.

Individual lessons in piano for intermediate to advanced students or those students with previous training in piano. Students will continue to improve piano skills in technique, sight-reading, harmonization, and improvisation. Two credits will equal one (1) one-half hour lesson per week, four credits equal one (1) one hour lesson per week. Students are required to practice 2 hours per week, per credit and complete a practice log of practice sessions. Prerequisite: Applied Music-Piano MUSC 1073 with a grade of "C" or better.

Individual instruction in advanced vocal technique with concentration on breath control, range, resonance, placement of the voice, diction, and the study of appropriate literature for each student's voice and ability. For those students with previous training in voice. Two credits will equal one (1) one-half hour lesson per week, four credits equal one (1) one hour lesson per week. Students are required to practice 2 hours per week, per credit and complete a practice log of practice sessions. Prerequisite: Applied Music-Voice MUSC 1074 with a grade of "C" of better.

One 30-minumte private lesson per week per credit hour with a minimum preparation standard. Students will typically provide a public recital performance, participate in master classes, and complete an end of semester performance jury. All students enrolled in applied lessons will recieve a minimum of 13 lessons per semester. Students must have previous training proven with an audition or at least 2 credit hours of MUSC 1200, MUSC 1201, MUSC 1202, or MUSC 1203 combined to enroll in this course. 1/2-1 hour lecture, 2-3 hours lab.

This course is designed to provide concepts and skills of caring for residents of long-term care facilities under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel. The successful student will be eligible for certification and to function in the field of long term care. It also prepares the student to take the competency exam to become certified in the State of Wyoming. The CNA certificate may be transferred out of state. This course is offered for S/U grade only. 3 hours lecture, 2 hours lab.
