Human anatomy and physiology. This laboratory course is recommended for those contemplating a career in the health professions and emphasizes the structure and function of the human body. Microscopic and gross anatomy are correlated with physiology. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisite: Biology 114 or 115 or Biology 121, or Consent of Department Chairperson. Previous completion in Biology 120 (medical terminology) is strongly suggested. 2 lecture and 4 lab hours per week. 4 credit hours.

Principles of heredity, structure of genetic material, mechanism of transmission, and the role of genetics in evolution. Application of these principles to human and other organisms is included. Origin, history and development of plants and animals. Includes evidence from anatomy, paleontology, comparative physiology, biochemistry, immunology, and genetics. Prerequisite: Biology 101 and Biology 102, or Biology 114 and Biology 115, or Biology 121 and Biology 122 or Consent of Department Chairperson. 100 or 150 minutes per week. 2 or 3 credit hours.

Special topics in biology and biotechnology will be discussed along with appropriate lab and/or field trip activities. New developments will be emphasized, especially materials useful in K 12 education and industry. Develops the ability to transform written copy or script into voice performance emphasizing copy preparation, breath control, pronunciation, articulation, use of full dynamic range, microphone techniques, and hand signals. A variety of copy, including commercials, news and public service announcements will be covered. A survey of the history, technology, structure and operation of the telecommunications industry. Topics include advertising, audience measurement, network television, radio station operations, cable television, broadcast regulations and licensure, satellite communications and career in broadcasting. Creation and preparation of scripts for radio and television programs and segments which include news copy, commercial copy, public service announcements, continuity and dramatic copy.
