Resultants of force systems; equilibrium, analysis of forces acting on members of trusses, frames: forces due to friction; scalar and vector algebra approach; centroids; moments of inertia; introduction to principle of virtual work; dynamics; displacement, velocity, and acceleration of a particle; relation between forces acting on rigid bodies and the changes in motion produced; translation; rotation; plane motion; solutions using the principles of force, mass and acceleration; work and energy; impulse and momentum; vibrations.
