    The purpose of this course is to present a framework of principles, methods, procedures, and techniques of advertising along with its historical development and cultural significance in today's society. Consideration is given to the role of advertising in the marketing structure and to its use as a marketing tool for the individual firm. Course content includes analysis of buying motives, the social forces involved in consumer behavior, measurement of the market potential, determination of proper advertising budget, media allocations, and the devices used to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. Prerequisite: BU 301.

    This course will introduce the student to the concept of the multinational corporation and attempt to determine the extent to which effective business practices can be transferred across national boundaries. Prerequisite: BU 105.

    This course explores the effect of cultural differences on business in the international arena. The interrelationships between these areas, such as religion, values, language, education, technology, politics, the legal environment, and their effect on international business are also recognized and analyzed. Prerequisite: BU 340.

    This course provides a practical and conceptual foundation for students interested in sport management. Students will explore the formalized working relationships between the mass media and sport organizations. The course focuses on the interactions among the people and organizations involved in the flow of information to the public, including the connection between the informational and commerical sides of sport information management. Students will examine the roles and responsibilities of sports information specialists, their duties in disseminating information, and the legal and ethical issues they face. Additionally, students will have opportunities to practice many of the tasks of a sports information director, including but not limited to, writing news releases, holding news conferences and creating special events. Prerequisite: BU 303.

    This course covers development and management of international marketing programs. Students study problems involved in marketing goods and services in foreign markets given their differing political, cultural and economic conditions. Special attention is given to adaptation of the marketing mix and entry strategies. Prerequisite: BU 301.

    A study of concepts, theories and empirical research on organizational behavior in the international scene. The emphasis is on the actual techniques, documents and procedures drawn from multinational corporations that have been using them successfully. Analysis of basic personal features of the multinational environment, employee needs, transferring managerial expertise, the expatriate executive, compensation problems and emerging trends. Prerequisite: BU 308.
