The process is one of designing, executing and adjusting thereby allowing strategies to be refined or even emerge as learning occurs. Because of the integrative nature of this course, case studies will address all areas of the Integrated Reflective Practice model.

These include: Values of a Global-Based Organization, Innovation through Information, Financial and Economic Resources, Customers, Markets, Sales and Marketing; Human Resources and Organizational Relationships; Measurement and Process Improvement; and Action Planning to Create Value. The project may be performed for a current employer, a sponsoring workplace or as an internship as either a Service Learning project for a qualifying non-profit organization or another organization of the student's choosing.

It includes an examination of the background, organization, current influence and future trends of books, newspapers, radio, film, audio recordings, television and the internet. Contemporary problems of the media are covered such as the legal, social, economic and psychological implications of their relationships with society. Application of advertising and public relations and their use of the eight mass media outlets are addressed.

Students write, produce and perform a variety of programs including news, interviews, commercials, dramas and documentaries. Besides traditional analog recording techniques, students gain a solid understanding of digital audio recording and editing techniques for persuasion, information and entertainment.

In addition to attending class once per week, students will work at the station an additional 4 hours per week.

Students will learn how to write effective material such as public service announcements, commercials, features, news, sports, education and training programs, dramas and comedies. The focus of the course is on the elements of style unique to media received in an electronically delivered venue.
