Provides the student of illustration a firm foundation to create simple to moderately complex 2D animations. Develops skills using animation basics including tweening, squash and stretch, anticipation, staging and timing. May be repeated for a maximum of 6 credits toward graduation.. Develops advanced skills in producing pixel-based, computer-generated artwork for use as illustrations and other graphic communications. Emphasizes digitally painted images created from scratch rather than the creation of images produced through the digital manipulation of existing, found, or photographic resources. Develops conceptually based and communicative images that will be a vital aspect of each course project. Employs industry-standard software, and techniques including layers, compositing, channels, selection masks and color adjustments.. Lab access fee of $26 for computers applies.

Teaches techniques in texturing, lighting, and rendering of 3D models and scenes with a special emphasis upon aesthetics and composition.
