Instruction in teaching methodology for instructors of emergency medical services. This course examines the basic theory of adult education methods and resources for presentation, procedures for EMS skills and knowledge evaluations, and applicable Texas Department of Health regulations. NOTE: Completion of this course does not automatically impart eligibility to become certified as an instructor or examiner. A minimum course grade of 80 is required. Prerequisite: Paramedic Certification. One hour lecture and 2 hours lab per week.

The capstone course of the EMSP programs. Designed to provide for teaching and evaluating comprehensive, assessment-based patient care management. A minimum course grade of 80 is required. Prerequisite: Completion of the Fall and Spring and summer semesters of the Paramedic Certificate. Corequisite: EMSP 2243. Prerequisite: completion of fall, spring and summer course work.

A comprehensive course covering all aspects of the utilization of medications in treating emergency situations. Course is designed to compliment Cardiology, Special Populations, and Medical Emergency courses. A minimum course grade of 80 is required. Prerequisite: Completion of the Fall Semester of the Paramedic Certificate.

A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. Practical general training and experiences in the workplace. Corequisite: EMSP 1438, 1456, 2248. Prerequisite: Certified State of Texas EMT.

A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. Practical general training and experiences in the workplace. The college with the employer develops and documents an individualized plan for the student. The plan relates the workplace training and experiences to the student's general and technical course of study. The guided external experiences may be paid or unpaid. Students will practice all paramedic level skills. A minimum course grade of 80 is required. Prerequisite: Successful completion of the Fall semester of the WC Paramedic Certificate. Corequisite: EMSP 1455,2348, 2434.

3.00 Credits
The in depth study of patients with special conditions including geriatric, pediatric, obstetrical, and neonatal patients. Included in this module is psychological emergencies. The focus is on how assessment techniques and therapeutic modalities differ in patients with special needs or conditions. Corequisites: EMSP 2544, 2338, 2391. Prerequisites: Completion of fall, spring and summer semester course work.

This module focuses on proper operations and maintenance of an emergency vehicle and scene operations. Included in this module are extrication and rescue techniques, water rescue procedures, high angle rescue techniques, crime scene preservation, and communications. A detailed study of the knowledge and skills necessary to reach competence in the assessment and management of patients with medical emergencies. This includes the management of ill or injured patients in nontraditional populations. A minimum course grade of 80 is required. Prerequisite: Completion of Fall semester of the Paramedic Certificate. Corequisite: EMSP 1455, 2348, 2261. .

A detailed study of the knowledge and skills necessary to reach competence in the assessment and management of patients with cardiac emergencies. A minimum course grade of 80 is required. Prerequisite: Completion of the Fall Semester for Paramedic Certificate. Corequisite: EMSP 2330, 2338, 2361.

English 0100 is an option for developmental writing students whose scores on the state required assessment test fall in the standard deviation range and indicate a need for supplemental activities to master specific writing skills in a flexible scheduling format. The course provides non-course-based, non-credit activity utilizing tutorial services, computer-assisted instruction, and software available through Instructional Support Centers. Permission of the Developmental Writing/Reading Department Chair is required. Special Tutorial/Writing (ENGL 0100) will not transfer to a senior institution and will not count for non-degree credit from Weatherford College. Completion of an individually-prepared schedule requiring 12 hours of tutorials per semester is mandatory.
