ABA is the science of bringing about positive behavior change. Potential applications include behavioral healthcare, self-modification, parenting, business, and training non-human animals. Both Operant and Respondent techniques are reviewed, as well as behavioral assessment, observation, and recording. PREREQ: PSYC100.

Analysis of conflicted relationships within family and their implications for developmental outcomes. Topics include transition to parenthood, spanking and coercive relationships, maltreatment, and marital conflict and disruption. The approach consists of assessment of risk models. Examines how hormones produce changes in behavior over the life course. Topics include mating and parental behavior, aggression, stress and depression, and learning and memory. The class will examine perspectives on the self and how these views may contribute to an individual's developing personality across the lifespan. Topics will include: neurobiological, social, cognitive and clinical perspectives on the self and how autobiographical experience may become integrated to form a coherent narrative identity.
