This course is designed to assist students in documenting prior learning for the purpose of applying for college credit. Students develop a portfolio which includes a statement of educational/career goals, related non-collegiate experiences which have contributed to college-level learning, and documentation of such experiences. Prerequisite: One of the following must be met: (1) Developmental Reading 0093 AND Developmental Writing 0093; (2) English as a Second Language (ESOL) 0044 AND 0054; or (3) have met Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Reading and Writing standards AND DCCCD Writing score prerequisite requirement. This is an introduction to human nutrition. Topics will include classes, sources, and function of nutrients, digestion and absorption, and metabolism with applications to normal and therapeutic nutritional needs. This course is cross-listed as Biology 1322. The student may register for either Nutrition 1322 or Biology 1322, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec.)
