Creating user speech files and basic functions, commands and formatting. Covers enunciating, error correction, creating symbols and special characters, navigating documents. Developing proficiency in preparing business documents/forms and preparing medical, dental, legal and executive documents and forms. Addressing trouble spots, improving recognition accuracy, and managing and expanding voice vocabulary.

Alphabetic and numeric filing theory and practice. Record storage and retrieval systems; foundation for database management.

Utilization of mathematical operations to solve practical business application problems. The core topics include percents with applications, banking (check writing, statements reconciliation) cash and trade discounts, markup and markdowns, payroll, interest, notes, present value. Additional topics may be selected from the following: installment buying, mortgages, taxes, insurance, stocks, bonds, analysis of financial statements, treatment of depreciation and inventory costs. Use of touch control method on electronic calculators. A review of basic mathematics will be covered as needed--addition, subtraction multiplication and division of whole numbers, fractions, decimals, ratios, proportions and percents.

An introduction to essential components in building a medical vocabulary. Anatomic roots for words denoting body structure and fluids, prefixes, suffixes, and Greek and Latin verbal and adjectival derivatives. Basic introductory course for medical and allied health professions.
