    Study of childhood diseases and childcare from infancy through adolescence. Focus on the care of the well and the ill child utilizing the nursing process.     A basic, intermediate, or advanced type of health professions work-based instruction that helps students synthesize new knowledge, apply previous knowledge, or gain experience managing the workflow. Practical experience is simultaneously related to theory. Close and/ or direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional (faculty or preceptor), generally in a clinical setting. Clinical education is an unpaid learning experience. Prerequisite: Admission into the VOCN program. Corequisites: VNSG 1115, VNSG 1122, VNSG 1126, VNSG 1133, VNSG 1136, VNSG 1216, VNSG 1227, VNSG 1323, VNSG 1420. Twelve clinical hours per week. Credit: Two semester hours.

    Mastery of entry level nursing skills and competencies for a variety of health care settings. Utilization of the nursing process as the foundation for all nursing interventions. Prerequisite: Admission into the VOCN program. Corequisites: VNSG 1115, VNSG 1122, VNSG 1126, VNSG 1133, VNSG 1136, VNSG 1216, VNSG 1227, VNSG 1360, VNSG 1420. Two class hours and four laboratory hours per week. Credit: Three semester hours.

    A study of the biological, psychological, and sociological concepts applicable to basic needs of the family including childbearing and neonatal care. Topics include physiological changes related to pregnancy, fetal development, and nursing care of the family during labor and delivery and the puerperium. Prerequisites: completion of all first semester courses with a grade average of 75% or better. Corequisites: VNSG 1231, VNSG 1234, VNSG 1429, VNSG 1561. Four class hours. Credit: Four semester hours.
