spring, even years. Explores social scientific efforts to study and analyze religion, social origins and influence of religion, religion's influence on society, and contemporary social forces impacting on religion's trends and the future of religion. Emphasis is placed on U.S. religions.

spring, odd years. Explores the relationship between social inequality and social justice focusing on several interrelated issues including income inequality, wealth inequality, race and ethnic inequality, gender inequality, and political inequality. Prerequisite: junior standing.

Additional emphasis is given to diversity in these systems and within and among various groups. Special attention is given to the role of social, cultural, and spiritual development across the life span. Pre- or corequisite: PSYC 232.

An examination of the interaction of biopsychosocial factors that shape human experience; attention is given to the impact of macro systems, including society, communities, organizations, and large groups. Additional emphasis is given to diversity in these systems and the resulting role that discrimination and oppression play and the ensuing impact upon human behavior.

, fall, spring. Principles of social work practice; knowledge, values, and skills demanded of the social work professional in working with micro systems. Laboratory graded and credited with the course. Prerequisite: admission to the social work program or permission of the director.

fall, spring. Experience (150 clock hours) in selected human service agencies to permit personal exploration and application of social work principles in a community setting. Prerequisite: SOCW 351.
