MUH 1200: Introduction to Music:History,Style and Culture

Prerequisites: MUT 1300, MUT 1310, co-enrollment in MUT 1310, or permission of instructor. An introduction to Western art music through a chronological survey of styles, genres, and composers and through the comparative study of various non western musical practices. Emphasis will be placed on introducing students to listening techniques, terminology, researching, writing and critically thinking about music and its place in the web of culture.
