Description: This course is designed to prepare students for the National Strength and Conditioning Certification examination. Students will be planning and implementing weight training and conditioning programs based on individual assessments. In addition, students will be reviewing current techniques, theories, and practices of conditioning and strength training for various sports. Notes: Offered in fall, spring, occasional summer. Prerequisites: PESH 102, minimum Junior status, C- or higher EXSC 384, 2.5 overall GPA.

Description: This course will introduce students to community-based wellness programs specific to special populations, including geriatrics, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and others. Students will evaluate established programs and learn how to implement them into an exercise plan. Fieldwork is required.

Included are discussions on stress, cardiovascular, nervous, respiratory, endocrine, and musculoskeletal dysfunction. Prerequisites: BIOL 213 and BIOL 214 OR BIOL 307 and 308, and C- in PHED 384 or EXSC 384, Cumulative GPA of 2.5. Corequisites: EXSC 486. Notes: Offered fall and spring.
