Description: Course explores various classroom assessment techniques and appropriate use to meet the diverse needs of all learners. Using the environment of a partner school, skills in data-based decision-making will be identified and utilized by course participants. Principles of Universal Design for Learning will be applied to the design and implementation of assessment associated with lessons written by classroom teachers. Prerequisite: Grade of C or better in EDCO 200. Notes: A grade of C or better is required for Teacher Education majors/minors. This course cannot be taken for S/U credit. Offered in fall, spring, and summer. Course was formerly offered as EDUC 220.

Universal Design for Learning will provide a structure for planning, implementing, and assessing technology-assisted lessons. Prerequisite: Grade of C or better in EDCO 220 or PETE 590. Admission to Teacher Education Program. Notes: Lab Fee: $25. A grade of C or higher is required for Teacher Education majors/minors. This course cannot be taken for S/U credit. Approximately 12 hours of field work will be completed for this course.

Description: Lecture and field-based course that explores multiple models of planning, implementing, and assessing instruction with the goal of effectively meeting the academic, social, and psychological needs of all students. Special focus is placed on Response to Intervention, Positive Behavioral Supports, and Universal Design for Learning as models for ensuring all students learn. Prerequisite: Grade of C or better in EDUC 220 or PHED 590. EDCO 202 or SPED 281, Admission to Teacher Education Program. Corequisite: EDCO 305. Notes: A grade of C or higher is required for Teacher Education majors/minors. This course cannot be taken for S/U credit. Approximately 12 hours of field work will be completed for this course.

Description: This course provides candidates with diverse experiences in both analyzing and designing various types of classroom assessments. Candidates will investigate the reliability, validity, fairness, and appropriateness of formal and informal classroom assessments, and discuss how to interpret and analyze student results to determine future teaching decisions. Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education, and a grade of C or better in EDCO 220, and permission of instructor. Notes: Offered fall, spring, and summer.

Description: This course is designed to implement the Floyd College Readiness Program. Students will learn the applied skills of leadership to teach "College Readiness?? to diverse students at a local high school. College Readiness includes, but is not limited to; teaching high school students how to build a schedule, study for and take exams, sign up for a tutor, join campus clubs and organizations, maintain wellness in all dimensions, etc. College Readiness Leaders will assist with the planning and implementation of the Campus Visit event. Notes: Criminal background check required prior to high school placement.

This course cannot be taken for S/U credit. Approximately 12 hours of field work will be completed for this course.

Description: Lecture and field-based course in which teacher candidates design and implement a management plan in collaboration with the classroom mentor teacher and university instructor. The course focuses on utilizing Functional Behavior Analysis and communication with parents and other caregivers from diverse backgrounds including those living in poverty. Prerequisite: EDCO 350, Admission to Teacher Education Program. Corequisite: EDUC 401 or program area field-based course. Notes: This course requires participation in a pre- and post-semester orientation that follows the school district calendar. Contact the course instructor for specific requirements. A grade of C or higher is required for Teacher Education majors/minors. This course cannot be taken for S/U credit. Approximately 15 hours of field work will be completed for this course.
