Course content includes a study of relevant research, standards, curriculum methods and materials for instruction and assessment in early childhood classrooms. Observation and participation in early childhood settings is required. Practicum assignments are required. Prerequisite: Admission Teacher Education Program. Corequisites: ECED 350, ECED 351. Description: The student will be able to apply principles of planning, instruction, management, assessment and professionalism in directed field-based situations involving differing numbers of learners, peers, parents, and other adults. Notes: A grade of S/U is recorded.

Description: This course will prepare students to plan culturally relevant physical and interpersonal learning environments for children ages 3 through 5. Emphasis is placed on play-based, integrated learning and anti-biased, anti-racist instructional methods in language, literacy, social studies, math, science, and creative arts. Description: Explores the theory and practice of critical perspectives in early childhood education. Examines how issues of power, culture, and consciousness shape education, education systems, and educational research. Connects students' lived experiences with assumptions that govern dominant discourses in and around early childhood education. Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education. Corequisites: EDUC 401 and EDCI 400. Notes: A grade of "S" is required. Starting and ending dates are dependent on P-12 school site schedules.
