Description: The purpose of this course is to teach the learner about the development of intercollegiate athletics from the mid-19th century to today. A second purpose of this course is to examine the major issues facing sport administrators within intercollegiate athletics today, as well as potential future issues. Prerequisite: Junior, senior, or grad status; Cumulative GPA of 2.5 Notes: Offered periodically.

Description: The purpose of the course is to introduce students to a number of financial and staffing topics that are relevant to the sport industry. Major concepts to be studied will include basic financial concepts, budgeting, revenue streams, current financial issues in sports, staffing, assessment of staff, staffing policy and procedures, and a number of other relevant topics. Prerequisite: Junior status or above or graduate standing as a SPMA, EXSC, ATRN, or PETE major. Notes: Offered in fall.

Description: The study of state and federal laws and regulations that control and impact professional and amateur sport activities. Prerequisites: SPMA Major, Grade of C- or better in SPMA 525, Cumulative GPA of 2.5 Notes: Offered in spring.

Description: This course provides overview of threat/risk assessment, crowd management, crisis management, and emergency planning in sport facilities and events. In addition, this course is designed to introduce the student to the legal principles applicable to a variety of sport settings. The topic of tort liability will be explored in depth with special emphasis on the effective management of risk. Prerequisite: SPMA, EXSC, ATRN, or PETE Major, Grade of C- or better in SPMA 101, EXSC 101, or ATRN 151, Cumulative GPA of 2.5. Notes: Offered in fall.

Description: This course introduces the integration of traditional business processes and those required to establish sustainable business practices. Included is an introduction to natural systems. The course covers the use of business analytical tools to make decisions that restore the natural environment and build social capital to maintain long term profitability. Students will consider intelligent redesign of business practices and innovation as part of a commitment to sustainable management within company governance and in the stakeholder community. Prerequisites: Prerequisites; BADM 180 or MGMT 321 and ACCT 280 More than 54 hours and greater than 2.0 GPA. Note: It is recommended that students in the Sustainable Business Option meet the science requirement by making the appropriate choices of designators and labs from the following list: CHEM 101, PHYS 105, BIOL10/151, GEOG 101 or 201.
