Description: Supervised field experience in a human service, health or mental health, educational, business, or related agency or organization. Notes: For Psychology majors only. A maximum of 3 hours may be applied toward a degree in Psychology. A student may receive credit for either PSYC 461-462 or PSYC 340, but not both as credit for major. A grade of S or U is recorded. Offered in the fall, spring and summer. Prerequisites: Overall GPA of 2.5 and minimum of 24 earned undergraduate semester hours. Placement objectives must be approved by Department Chair prior to enrollment.

Description: This course examines an emerging paradigm shift in psychology away from an emphasis on pathology to greater consideration of positive aspects of human experience. Positive psychology emphasizes using science to explore optimal human functioning, strengths and virtues, positive coping, well-being and fulfillment in the lives of healthy people. Prerequisite: PSYC 101. Notes: Offered in spring.
