Description: This course will explore personal, environmental, business, and social trends currently affecting Information Design. Adjacent fields such as human factors, humanities computing, HCI, information architecture and possibly library science, will be part of the discussion. Topics within these fields as they relate to Information Design, and the implications of changes in these fields will also be included. Topic discussions will include case studies, news items of the day, and recent journal entries. Notes: Offered in fall. Prerequisites: INFD 151.

Description: This course will require students to integrate legal and ethical issues of concern in information design relative to the four disciplines represented in the major. Students will review and analyze appropriate case law, federal regulations, and professional codes of conduct. Subjects to be covered include libel, privacy and identity issues, copyright and trademark issues, photo and audio manipulation, fraud and liability issues, data security and cyber-terrorism, spam and junk mail issues, FTC and FCC regulations. Notes: Offered in fall. Prerequisites: Senior standing.

Description: This course helps prepare students for an international educational experience abroad. Using theoretical and practical knowledge, students will engage in meaningful discussions, activities, and assignments related to the process of studying abroad including budgeting, scholarships, program lengths, cultural differences, global citizenship, and intercultural competency. Description: Interdisciplinary work experience overseen by a professional at an approved location outside of the United States under the academic direction of a Winthrop University professor. Students are required to work in an approved volunteer activity while pursuing individual or group academic research pertinent to the service area. Notes: Course maybe repeated for credit.
