The course will emphasize planning, implementing, and evaluating instruction of social studies at the secondary level. Students will integrate pedagogical theory and practice by developing curricular materials, lesson plans, and presentation strategies. This is a required course for students who major in history. Students will examine and apply analytical and research methodologies within a seminar on a specific theme that will vary from semester to semester. Students will also be asked to reflect upon the value of their historical studies both as regards their undergraduate education and their future professional lives. A final paper will be presented to a panel of the history faculty. Prerequisites: Senior status, completion of HIST 201 and HIST 399, and completion of an additional twelve semester hours of history coursework at the 300 level or higher. Three semester hours.
