Enhances knowledge and clinical experience in advanced assessment of diverse clients across the life span within the context of the Clinical Nurse Leader role. Includes utilization of information systems technology for exploring health care outcomes, application of the nursing process through various technologies, therapeutic communication with diverse clients/groups, and patient education. Prerequisite: Admission to the Clinical Nurse Leader program or permission of the instructor. Three semester hours (2,1).

Overview of the principles of pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies with an emphasis on therapeutic uses of broad categories of drugs. Explores variations in management of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities with diverse patient populations across the lifespan. Includes analysis of legal, ethical, policy, and cultural issues pertinent to the use of various pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies. Students will discuss concepts of healthcare data and analytics, health information exchanges, healthcare information privacy and security, and population health management. Prerequisite: Admitted to MSN program or permission of instructor. Three credit hours.

NUR 631.PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE OF NURSINGEDUCATION This course is designed to provide expert nurses with a theoretical foundation to promoteexcellence in teaching in both faculty and professional development roles. Principles of adult learning theory,learning styles, and preferences are explored with a focus on impact of educational design. Students will reviewvarious learning domains and approaches for curriculum development including writing measurable learningobjectives. Content also includes an examination of numerous didactic teaching strategies, general tactics forthe use of simulation, approaches for interprofessional collaboration, and methods for evaluating learnercompetence. Prerequisite: Admitted to MSN program or have completed a MSN program. Three credit hours.

Explores identification of clinical and cost outcomes that improve safety, effectiveness, quality and client-centered care. Prerequisites: "B" or better in NUR 613 and NUR 620. Use of the nursing process to plan and coordinate care of diverse patients across the lifespan with various acute and chronic conditions. Incorporates study of measurement of client outcomes, including epidemiology and biostatistics. Emphasis on strategies for managing care and assessing client outcomes using evidence-based practice guidelines within the context of the Clinical Nurse Leader role. Prerequisites: "B" or better in NUR 630 and 635. Three semester hours.

This course provides students with the fundamental knowledge and skills in preparation for teaching professional nurses in a practice environment. The course will utilize the most current American Nurses Association Nursing Professional Development Scope & Standards of Practice as a framework for understanding roles and responsibilities of nursing professional development. This course will also utilize the Clinical Nurse Leader competencies as a foundation for equipping students with knowledge and skills in organizational and systems leadership, quality improvement and safety, translating and integrating scholarship into practice, use of informatics and technologies to analyze and improve care practices, and health policy and advocacy. Pre-requisite: Admitted to MSN program or have completed a MSN program. Three credit hours.
