Includes the investigation of text and display type, measurement systems, persuasive type, proportions, spacing, vocabulary, grids, visual hierarchy and the history of letterform design.

Projects include hand building and wheel throwing, clay mixing, firing, glazing, and embellishment.

(2-3-3) Offered Summer Semester Prerequisite: ART 202 (required) This course provides an advanced study of the functional and sculptural skills acquired in ceramics. Additional topics may include slump and hump molds, wide-based forms, englobes, slips, patinas, stains, and glaze formulations, as well as reduction, oxidation, and primitive firing methods.
