This course is designed for moderate to advanced classical and musical theatre singers. Topics include the musical, linguistic and dramatic preparation and performance of roles and scenes from opera, operetta and/or musical theatre. In addition to preparing performances, students learn more about the history and literature of opera and musical theatre, as well as about those industries (auditioning, resumes, young artist programs, etc). Assignments aid students in preparing their roles, as well as in learning general information about the genres and businesses, as listed above. May be repeated for a maximum of six credits.
