GEOG 101: World Regional Geography

This course introduces students to the key concepts of geography through the lens of different regions of the world. Students explore the dynamics of human existence in different settings, arriving at a holistic understanding of life in the region by considering the interaction of physical and human geographies. The focus is on diversity amid the commonalities of human experience. Cross-listed with POLS 104. Students may not earn credit for both courses. This course examines many aspects of the Earth: its internal structure and composition; its atmosphere and oceans; surface processes such as erosion by streams, wind, and glaciers, and the folding and faulting of solid rock; as well as earthquakes, volcanism and plate tectonics.
